The Rise of Cannabis in Health and Wellness

by | Jul 9, 2023 | Business & Industry

There is a global increase in the use of Cannabis for health and wellness. With thousands of new consumers and a plethora of research on the plant, Cannabis has endless potential. Many consumers have said that from the first use, you will feel the positive benefits.

Not only are the physical effects long-lasting but they can be even more fantastic and profound than before. The potency over time has contributed to an increase in medical studies as well. Cannabis has been used for centuries and continues to gain momentum into this modern era where people are taking control of their own health, wellness, and overall happiness through innovative approaches to healing like cannabis consumption for example.

Why has there been an increased use of Cannabis for health and wellness?

There are several reasons for this, but the one that stands out is the truth behind Cannabis. Many people in our society are seeking out natural alternatives to medication such as anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication. Many people who use Cannabis have reported that they have a decrease in their anxiety levels, and it is widely used in place of many U.S. states’ most prescribed drugs nowadays.

In addition to these physical effects, the mental or emotional effects can be just as powerful and beneficial to consumers. For example, individuals struggling with depression have found Cannabis to be an effective treatment option when facing their day-to-day struggles with mental illness or even just feeling better about themselves.

In progressive African economies like South Africa, Cannabis has been decriminalised by the country’s Constitutional Court for personal consumption by adults in private. However, laws prohibiting use outside of one’s private dwelling and buying and selling cannabis remain. Currently, Africa is the place with the fastest growing population in the world. And this has resulted into a booming market for Cannabis. Due its way of healing old illness, it is changing people’s lives profoundly and opening doors to an improved quality of life.

For instance, in India, cannabis has been used for thousands of years as folk medicine in India and Nepal. Some doctors there have recently begun prescribing medical marijuana for certain ailments but only after trials on mice and rats that showed it had pain relieving effects that could be transferred to humans.

Why should pharmacies stock Cannabis products?

There is profit to be made, and it increases shop traffic. The science on Cannabis has been remarkably evolving. In a survey of approximately five hundred individuals who use the Cannabis product, they found that the use can be more effective than conventional medication for some conditions. These conditions include anxiety and depression, chronic pain, headaches, insomnia and many more.

We would like to point out that this is not a medical advice but for education purposes only. If you are currently taking any medications at all, please consult your physician. A natural alternative such as cannabis might leave you needing less medication for your condition. In addition to this we do not recommend self-medicating with cannabis if you are pregnant or breastfeeding due to the unproven effects of cannabis in these situations.
